How many days until your anniversary?
Enter the date you mark each year — a wedding, first date, founding date, or personal milestone. The calculator finds its next occurrence and shows the days, weeks and days, date, and weekday.
Updated
Enter the original date to see exactly how many whole calendar days remain until its next anniversary.
Pick the date to see the countdown to its next anniversary.
The countdown is measured in whole days from your device's local date today to the next occurrence of the entered month and day. The original year is not part of the countdown.
How does it work?
Days are counted in whole calendar days using UTC, so the result is unaffected by time zones or daylight saving. A negative count means the date has already passed.
Days-until formula
- d
- Whole days between today and the target date.
- target
- The date you are counting down to.
- today
- The current date (your local today).
From 1 June to 1 July is 30 days.
Method & sources
We take the month and day from the original date and count whole calendar days from today to its next occurrence. The original year is not used to calculate the countdown. The target moves to next year after the day passes, and 29 February becomes 1 March in non-leap years.
How we calculate
- The original date supplies the recurring month and day; its year is not used in the countdown.
- Today is your device's local date, and the next occurrence includes today itself.
- If the month and day have passed this year, the target moves to next year.
- A 29 February date is treated as 1 March in a year without 29 February.
- The day of the week shown is the weekday of the next occurrence.
Rounding
The countdown is in whole calendar days. Today and the target date are counted in UTC, so time zones and daylight saving never shift the result.
What this countdown does
An anniversary repeats on the same month and day each year. The calculator takes those two parts from the original date and finds the next occurrence on or after today. If it is still ahead this year, that is the target; if it has passed, the target moves to next year. On the anniversary itself the result is 0, so this recurring countdown never becomes negative.
How to use it
- Enter the original date, such as the full date of birth.
- Read the days remaining until that month and day next occurs.
- Check the next date, the weeks-and-days breakdown, and the weekday.
- Use Share to send the live countdown to anyone.
When it's useful
Use it for relationship and wedding anniversaries, business or project founding dates, sobriety or recovery milestones, or any other annual date that matters to you. The day count creates a clear reminder, the weeks-and-days view supports planning, and the weekday helps decide whether to celebrate on the date or around the nearest weekend.
What the original date is used for
Enter the full original date, but understand what the result means: the countdown uses its month and day to find the next anniversary. The original year is not used to calculate the wait, and the result does not say which numbered anniversary is approaching. To measure the full elapsed time since the event, use the date-difference calculator. This separation keeps the countdown focused on the next occurrence rather than the history behind it.
How to read the anniversary result
The main number is whole calendar days until the next occurrence. The date confirms whether the target is in this year or the next, and the weekday helps with practical planning. The weeks-and-days value is the same total expressed as full seven-day weeks plus the remainder. It includes weekends and public holidays; it is not a count of working days or evenings available for preparation.
A simple anniversary planning timeline
The right amount of preparation depends on what you want to do. These flexible anchors can stop a meaningful date from turning into a last-minute task:
- About 6–8 weeks before: decide whether the date calls for travel, an event, or a quiet celebration and book anything with limited availability.
- About 3–4 weeks before: settle invitations, reservations, a gift, or the practical details of time away.
- About 1–2 weeks before: confirm bookings and delivery dates and write down anything personal you want to say or include.
- During the final days: keep the plan simple, check the time and place, and move the reminder for next year only after the day has passed.
Anniversaries on 29 February
If the original date is 29 February and the target year has no 29 February, WiseCalcs uses 1 March for the countdown. In a leap year the target remains 29 February. This is a consistent calculation convention, not a statement about which date a person, organisation, contract, or law may recognise; use the convention that applies to your situation when the exact date has formal consequences.
How the days are counted
The count uses the month and day from the date you enter and finds the next occurrence on or after today. If it is today, the result is 0; if it has passed this year, the target moves to next year. Both dates are compared at UTC midnight so time zones and daylight saving never shift the result. A 29 February date becomes 1 March in years without 29 February.
FAQ
- How many days until my anniversary?
- Enter the original date above. The first result shows the exact whole calendar days until that month and day next occurs.
- Can I use it for any kind of anniversary?
- Yes. It works for any event that you choose to mark on the same month and day every year.
- Does it tell me which anniversary is next?
- No. The original year is not used in the countdown, so the result finds the next date but does not label it as a first, tenth, or other numbered anniversary.
- What happens if the anniversary is today?
- The result is 0 days. Today is the next occurrence, and the target moves to next year only after the day passes.
- What about an anniversary on 29 February?
- In a year without 29 February, the calculator targets 1 March. In a leap year it targets 29 February.
- Can I use the wedding date after the wedding?
- Yes. Enter the wedding date here and the calculator will keep finding its next yearly anniversary.
- Can I share the countdown?
- Yes. Share copies a link that reopens the countdown to the same date, always counting from the viewer's today.
