What this countdown does

A deployment date is one of the hardest deadlines there is — personal, logistical, and with no flexibility. This countdown turns the date into the days remaining so every week of preparation has a clear value. There are four categories to work through: legal (power of attorney, updated will), financial (direct debits, bank access, pay arrangements), admin (mail, subscriptions, storage, tenancy), and personal (childcare, pet care, family contacts). Starting weeks out rather than days out gives legal documents the processing time they need.

Work through four areas: legal (power of attorney so someone can act on your behalf, an updated will), financial (standing orders and direct debits, bank access for family members, pay and allowance arrangements), admin (mail redirection, subscriptions paused, vehicle storage or MOT, any tenancy or property issues), and personal (childcare plans, pet care, emergency contacts list for the family). The legal documents take the most lead time — start those first.
